Energy Price Guarantee for Business

Energy Price Guarantee for Business

Under the Energy Price Guarantee (EPG), the Government will fix the wholesale energy charges to all businesses, public sectors, and charities for six months from 1st October 2022 until 31st March 2023. Following that, the Government will provide more targeted support for vulnerable sectors such as hospitality for a yet to be disclosed period. The new Secretary of State for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy – The Rt Hon Jacob Rees Mogg MP -  will conduct a review in the New Year to consider where this support should be targeted.

At present we don’t know whether the EPG will apply to all businesses on all types of contracts from 1st October regardless of when those contracts were signed? We also don’t know if applying an EPG to businesses on flexible contracts should be a straightforward exercise for suppliers, or how will this work for fixed contracts where the energy and non-energy costs are bundled together?

We will continue to monitor the situation and as soon as we know anything we will publish it here, but in the meantime if you have any questions, do please drop us a line to info@utilityassist.co.uk and we’ll do our best to answer them.
